5 Reasons Why You Should Have a Pen Pal

Our Pen Pal Club is a 650+ strong community of letter writing enthusiasts from all different corners of the world, united by a love of letters and a desire for connection.

We're always on the lookout for more people to join our club, and if you've been teetering on the edge of signing up, but still haven't yet had the courage to take that leap of faith, then here's our top 5 reasons why you should give us a try;

1. You'll spend time away from your phone

As we move more and more into a digitally reliant world, finding ways to spend time away from our screens is so important. We're losing the ability to connect as humans, and so having a tangible relationship with a real person, via the simple method of our postal service, is a beautiful way to ground us again.

2. You'll make a new friend

As adults it can sometimes be a little difficult to make new friends. We've gone through school and sometimes higher education and come out with a group of people we decide to stay in touch with, but unless you're changing your job or moving to a new neighbourhood you're unlikely to meet new people very often. Our members are all looking to make friends and we'll help you to expand your friendship circle when you join.

3. Your mental health will benefit from doing something creative

It's been proven that when we do something creative with our hands, our mental health benefits from it. Letter writing is an incredibly mindful activity, and so if you suffer from stress and anxiety, it can be a useful tool to relieve some of your symptoms.

4. It will bring you joy to receive mail that isn't bills or marketing

How often do you really receive interesting post nowadays? You cannot underestimate the joy of seeing a handwritten letter in your letterbox.

5. You'll connect to someone you may never have been able to in your day-to-day life

We have people from all walks of life in our club - people of different ages, genders, sexualities, disabilities, neurodiversity, political views, careers and religions, and so when you sigh up there's a good chance you're going to connect with someone a little different to you. Someone that you might be able to learn from, or teach them something that's important to you, and hopefully broaden your horizons.

Why not take that leap of faith and sign up today?
