Letter Writing Prompt - Holidays

Each month we share a letter writing prompt to encourage you to put pen to paper more often.

A little suggestion of what you could write about, to get your creative juices flowing, and allow you to enjoy a relaxing mindful moment of writing.

Is there a more alluring month than July? After months of hard work, routines and forward-thinking, July invites us to put our aching minds to one side, relax and live in the moment. There’s a longing in us to break from our usual habits, and find a rhythm some place new.

Holidays allow the mind to reset and expand, leaving us refreshed and full of ideas when we return home. It’s a time to experience something different, make memories with loved ones and let ourselves retune.

You needn’t be travelling abroad or far away to make something a holiday – even taking a week to stay at home and enjoy your local area is enough to unwind. Perhaps there’s a nearby museum you’ve been meaning to visit, or you’ll head to the park for a picnic in the sunshine, or drive to the seaside for the day. It’s these small shifts in our surroundings that give us a fresh perspective on things, and are so important for our mental health.

Maybe you’ll use your holiday to catch up with your pen pals, or to send a postcard to a loved one. Maybe you’ll make a scrapbook from your day trips or make some greeting cards to post home from somewhere abroad?
