Letter Writing Prompt - Summer Solstice

Each month we share a letter writing prompt to encourage you to put pen to paper more often.

A little suggestion of what you could write about, to get your creative juices flowing, and allow you to enjoy a relaxing mindful moment of writing.

Happy Summer Solstice!

It feels as though we wait all year for this time to arrive - when the days are long, and the evenings are warm, when time is spent almost entirely outdoors, and meals are always al-fresco. It’s such a welcome relief to reach this milestone every year. When the sun is shining, everything feels a little lighter. Our moods shift. Things feels more manageable. There are to do lists that can be put to one side, guilt free, because we don’t want to waste these fleeting days of sunshine and joy.

Whilst celebrating the summer solstice is a pagan ritual, many people today will use it as an excuse to set new goals and traditions, as well as celebrate the joys of midsummer. And so this month, why not use the solstice to give yourself a little re-set? Perhaps you could write to friends and invite them over for a bonfire, or write down some ambitions you want to achieve for the summer? You could create a menu of sun-coloured foods to serve at a dinner party on Midsummer’s Eve, or maybe even a cocktail list you’re going to serve to friends or family to get the party started?

Whatever you do, I hope you'll use this time to relax a little and enjoy the sunshine.

Happy writing!
