Letter Writing Prompt - Summertime

Each month we share a letter writing prompt to encourage you to put pen to paper more often.

A little suggestion of what you could write about, to get your creative juices flowing, and allow you to enjoy a relaxing mindful moment of writing.

June is sunshine on your face, flowers in full bloom, late night alfresco dinners, morning coffee outdoors, it is green, it is colourful, it is abundance, it is playful, it is summer.

There’s something about this time of year that always feels so nostalgic. From the coo-ing of pigeons in the early evening, to the excitement we feel at the jingle of an ice cream van – these sounds have the power to ignite a wistful rush of childhood joy in our minds, inviting us to engage with our playful side, relax a little, and celebrate.

Perhaps this summer you’ll tap into your playful side and get creative – you could write to each of your neighbours to propose a flower swap, or send a postcard to a loved one from a recent daytrip you went on. You might post a book you recently enjoyed to a friend, and include a little note about why you think they’ll like it too. You could start a scrapbook of your summertime plans, annotating each picture with your thoughts and experiences of that moment. Or maybe you could set up an honesty stand on your street and write some thank you notes to anyone that makes a purchase?
