Letter Writing Prompt - Christmas

Each month we share a letter writing prompt to encourage you to put pen to paper more often.

A little suggestion of what you could write about, to get your creative juices flowing, and allow you to enjoy a relaxing mindful moment of writing.

December has arrived, bringing with it the enchantment of Christmas. It’s a time of flickering candlelight, frosty mornings, and homes glowing with the warm twinkle of fairy lights. As the scent of pine and mulled spices fills the air, we’re reminded that this season is not just about giving, but about cherishing the connections that truly matter.

In the rush of the festivities, there’s something quite nourishing about sitting down to write a letter. It’s a pause amid the hustle and bustle, a quiet moment to reflect on the year gone by and to share heartfelt wishes with the ones we hold dear. Whether you’re writing to someone nearby or a loved one far away, a letter has the unique ability to bring a little piece of your world to theirs - spreading the warmth and wonder of Christmas in the most personal way.

This month, why not write to someone who made your year brighter? Or send a note of encouragement to someone who could use a little Christmas cheer. Perhaps pen a letter to an old friend, rekindling memories of festive traditions, or write a card to a neighbour, wishing them a season filled with joy.

And so, as you string up the garlands and sip on something warm, take a moment to write and wrap your Christmas spirit in words. Because letters, much like Christmas itself, are all about creating connections, sharing love, and spreading a little magic.

Wishing you a joyful December filled with warmth, kindness, plenty of time to write, and a very Merry Christmas.
