PEN PAL CLUB FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Pen Pal Club work?

Once you sign up, we’ll contact you personally by email to welcome you and invite you to write a short bio about yourself. This bio will be shared exactly as written and introduces you to the wider community.

Your bio is then sent out to all existing members via our newsletter. Members who feel you may be a good fit can respond to us directly. We review these responses to ensure they align with any requirements you’ve outlined and then forward them on to you.

From that point onwards, the decision to make contact, or not, is entirely yours. You have full autonomy throughout the process.

Are there any recurring fees?

No. Membership is a one-off payment. There are no subscriptions, renewals, or recurring charges.

What if my matches don’t work out?

This is completely normal. Not every connection will feel right, and there is no obligation to continue any correspondence.

If a match doesn’t work out, you’re welcome to request another introduction or respond to any of the daily new member alerts. Many members find their pen pals this way.

How long does it take for my bio to be shared?

Once we’ve received your details and confirmed everything meets our guidelines, your bio will be scheduled for the next available posting date. There is usually a short queue, and we’ll let you know when your bio is due to be shared.

How many pen pals can I have?

There is no limit. You may write to one person or several, entirely at your own pace and discretion.

Do I have to respond to every alert or match?

No. You are never required to respond to alerts or to any matches forwarded to you. You decide who you would like to engage with, if anyone. All alerts are sent equally to all members, regardless of your requested requirements.

Will you share my address?

No. We will never share your correspondence address on your behalf.

Exchanging addresses is a personal decision made solely between members. You are not required to share your address with anyone you do not feel comfortable sharing it with.

Can I unsubscribe from the daily alerts?

Yes. You can unsubscribe from daily alerts at any time without affecting your membership. If you later wish to receive them again, just let us know.

Do you filter alerts based on my preferences?

Daily alerts are sent equally to all members and are not filtered by individual preferences.

However, when forwarding responses to your own bio, we ensure they align with the preferences and requirements you’ve shared with us.

Is the Pen Pal Club a dating or matchmaking service?

No. The Pen Pal Club is for platonic correspondence only and is not a dating or matchmaking service.

Who can join?

The club is open to adults aged 18 and over who enjoy letter writing and thoughtful connection. Members join from many different countries and backgrounds.

Can I join from outside the UK?

Yes. The Pen Pal Club is international, and we welcome members from all over the world.

However, due to recent tariffs and shipping restrictions, we are currently unable to ship physical items to the United States. As a result, US-based members can only join via the membership-only option.

This does not affect participation in the club itself - US members are still able to receive alerts, have their bio shared, and correspond with other members as normal.

Can I re-post my bio at a later date?

Yes. If you’d like your bio to be shared again, you can request a re-post and we’ll advise you of the next available slot.

What if I decide the club isn’t for me?

We understand the club may not be the right fit for everyone. You can request removal from the club or unsubscribe from communications at any time.

Please note that once a member has been set up, we are unable to offer refunds, as outlined in our policies.

How do you keep the community safe?

We reserve the right to remove members at our discretion if necessary. However, all correspondence and relationships formed through the club are entered into independently by members.

By joining the club, you acknowledge that any communication or connection made is your own responsibility, and London Letters accepts no liability for interactions between members.

By continuing my membership, what am I agreeing to?

By continuing your membership, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with our Safety & Community Guidelines. No further confirmation is required.

I still have a question, can I contact you?

Of course. We’re always happy to help clarify how the club works or answer any questions you may have. Simply reply to any of our emails and we’ll be in touch.
