Welcome to the London Letters Christmas Card Exchange!

We’re bringing together people from around the world to revive a much-loved December tradition: sending good tidings by post, and enjoying the comfort and connection a handwritten Christmas card can bring.

Many of us remember a December post filled with cards from friends and family near and far. Their messages brought news, affection and good wishes into our homes, filling mantelpieces and windowsills with reminders of the people thinking of us.

Nowadays, many of us receive only a handful. We want to bring back the pleasure of finding a handwritten envelope among the everyday post, and of taking the time to send one ourselves.

Choosing your cards, pouring a festive tipple and settling down to write by a crackling fire is a chance to slow down during a busy season, and in our ever-increasingly digital world, taking the time to write something by hand is a luxury not many people will afford themselves.

Whether you’re a devoted Christmas card writer or you miss having a reason to send them, we’d love you to join us and help make the season jolly. The Exchange is not a religious initiative, and we would love people from all around the world regardless of location and religion to participate.

It is connection after all, that is most important at Christmas time. 

HOW IT WORKS

IMPORTANT! Please ensure your billing details match the address you'd like your Christmas cards sent to. If they don't match please include your shipping address in the notes section of your order.

Once you've signed up, we'll be in touch by email with all the details, including the address you'll need to send your Christmas cards to. 

From 5th November to 11th December, participants can send five Christmas cards into the exchange. Simply write your cards as normal (leaving behind its matching envelope), pop all five into an envelope addressed to us, and post them to London Letters where we'll act as the sorting office, carefully matching and forwarding your Christmas cards to fellow members of the community.

Your address remains completely private throughout the exchange, allowing you to enjoy the experience without sharing your personal details with other participants.

Once you've sent in your Christmas cards, you'll receive five back. Whether they arrive from a neighbouring city or the other side of the world, each one will be a small festive surprise waiting on your doorstep.

The sign-up fee covers the cost of exchanging your cards with other participants, as well as the administration of the exchange. You are responsible for purchasing your chosen Christmas cards separately. There are no recurring fees and no additional postage costs once your cards have arrived with us.

Whether you're based in the UK or on the other side of the world, we'd love for you to join us. Although we are celebrating Christmas cards, this is not a religious initiative, and we welcome all to take part. You don't need to be a member of one of our pen pal clubs, and you don't need to have purchased from London Letters before. There are no restrictions on age so please do invite any little ones to get involved too. Spellings, grammar, and beautiful handwriting are not important here - our goal is connection. 

We hope you can join us and that this becomes a shared festive experience: a chance to slow down, connect with others, discover new places, and enjoy the anticipation of finding something unexpected in your post.

You can join at any point during the exchange and sign up as many times as you like throughout its duration - each purchase equals five Christmas cards in and out of the Exchange.
