Welcome to the London Letters Summer Postcard Exchange 2026!

This summer we're feeling nostalgic and hosting a 90s-style postcard exchange, and we'd love you to take part.

We're inviting letter writers, stationery lovers, travellers, dreamers, and postcard enthusiasts from around the world to join a unique community exchange celebrating the joy of sending and receiving a postcard.

Many of us have fond memories of summer holidays filled with postcards - carefully choosing the design, writing a message in the sunshine, and dropping it into a postbox before heading home. The nostalgia of receiving a postcard is hard to resist too: a glimpse into someone else's world arriving unexpectedly through your letterbox. We want to recapture that feeling!

HOW IT WORKS

Please ensure your billing details match the address you'd like your postcards sent to. If they don't match please include your shipping address in the notes section of your order.

Once you've signed up, we'll be in touch by email with all the details, including the address you'll need to send your postcards to.

From 25th June to 20th August, participants can send five postcards into the exchange. Simply write your postcards as normal (leaving the address section blank), pop all five into an envelope addressed to us, and post them to London Letters where we'll act as the sorting office, carefully matching and forwarding your postcards to fellow members of the community.

Your address remains completely private throughout the exchange, allowing you to enjoy the experience without sharing your personal details with other participants.

Once you've sent in your postcards, you'll receive five back. Whether they arrive from a neighbouring city or the other side of the world, each one will be a small surprise waiting on your doorstep.

The sign-up fee covers the cost of exchanging your postcards with other participants, as well as the administration of the exchange. There are no recurring fees and no additional postage costs once your postcards have arrived with us.

Whether you're based in the UK or on the other side of the world, we'd love for you to join us. You don't need to be a member of one of our pen pal clubs, and you don't need to have purchased from London Letters before. There is also no restrictions on age and we can try to match younger participants with each other. Spellings, grammar, and beautiful handwriting are not important here - our goal is connection.

We hope you can join us and that this becomes more than just an exchange of postcards, but instead a shared summer experience: a chance to slow down, connect with others, discover new places, and enjoy the anticipation of finding something unexpected in your post.

You can join at any point during the exchange and sign up as many times as you like throughout the summer - each purchase equals five postcards.

Here's to a summer of postcards!

Postcard Echange

I’ve spent a gorgeous Sunday morning writing my 5 postcards. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and it was the perfect time, to sit with my dog, a coffee and take some time out to just think and write. I’d highly recommend to sign up to the postcard exchange because who wouldn’t want a lovely morning like that? I’m looking forward to receiving mine and can’t wait to see from where in the world they’ll appear from. The instructions are easy to follow: write, post, receive 🐌📮

Summer Postcard Exchange

I’ve followed LL for quite some time now. I have wanted a penpal for ages but have very little spare time as have elderly parents and work full time and can’t commit to regular writing but when I retire, I am going to. The Summer Postcard Exchange is the perfect way for me to get involved in writing a short note to someone. Very excited to see what I receive and where from. Thanks for organising this and hope it becomes an annual occurrence.
